Another year is winding down and Santa Claus is set to arrive in just a few more days. It is such a busy time of the year, making it easy to get overwhelmed and solely focused on accomplishing one more item on your to-do list. We forget to slow down and enjoy the season. We don’t see the anticipation, joy and wonder in the air, especially in our children. We only see long lines at checkout lanes, no parking spaces and more to-do’s on our list. We lose sight of the magic of Christmas.
This weekend my family and I attended my niece’s beautiful wedding. It was such a wonderful celebration of their love, and a much needed reminder of the magic that surrounds us, at all times, not only during the Holidays or even special occasions. It’s always there; we just need to look for it. And most importantly, believe.
A Christmas Wish for You
As we head into 2016, it’s my wish that you embrace the magic of the season. Don’t bah humbug all the commercialism of the holidays; I know it exists. But complaining about it doesn’t create change, but action does. Create meaningful holiday traditions for your family because, years later, the toys Santa brought them will be long forgotten, but they will remember how you celebrated the holidays beyond gift-giving. Those traditions are what they will also replicate with their own families, provided you show them now that Christmas — just like the Grinch learned — doesn’t come from a store.
Have a Magical Christmas
I want to wish everyone a magical Christmas. Enjoy every moment because they are precious. This year has been an incredibly blessed, but busy year for me, professionally and personally. After some careful consideration, I decided to take an extended holiday break from The Heavy Purse and will return on January 18 to give myself plenty of time to be with my family during our favorite time of the year and to prepare for another successful year. Thank you for understanding.
May every gift given and received this Christmas be filled with love,
